*Regional Premiere*

Feb. 17 - March 11, 2017

CO-DIRECTED BY KDT CO-ARTISTIC DIRECTOR CHRISTOPHER CARLOS AND KDT ARTISTIC COMPANY MEMBER CHRISTIE VELA

This gripping, suspenseful tale follows Eva, a lonely, middle class woman who puts up a tramp for the night out of the kindness of her heart. Soon, she finds that he intends to occupy her life as well as her house. Paper Flowers takes a lyrical look at the irreconcilable lifestyles of the poor and not-poor, of the different approaches to life and death, survival, sentimentality, pity, reality, and wishful thinking.

The Playwright: Égon Wolff was born in Chile on April 13, 1926 to German Parents. He studied chemical engineering as an undergraduate before turning to playwriting in 1958, and had early success with his play Disciples of Fear in 1959 when he won the Premio National de Literatura. Flores De Papel (Paper Flowers) won the Casa de las Americas Prize in 1970 and is considered by many to be Wolff’s masterpiece solidifying his importance in Latin American theater. The work of Égon Wolff has been produced in 29 countries and translated into 19 different languages. Wolff passed away in November 2016.
