Now in its 27th year, KDT's Staged Reading Series will showcase two new plays written by KDT Artistic Company Members: Black Republican by Jamal Gibran Sterling and Sound by Jenny Ledel. Each reading will feature some of DFW's most accomplished actors and directors to highlight the breadth of talent in our amazing community.

Upon moving to a new neighborhood, two friends begin to experience a strange and unusual sound that seems to come from nowhere and is causing them medical symptoms Loosely based on the 2016 headline grabber "The Havana Syndrome," this play explores the question of how we heal ourselves of the traumas we refuse to name? 

BLACK REPUBLICAN by Jamal Gibran Sterling

Black Republican is the ambitious first play written by longtime KDT Artistic Company Member Jamal Gibran Sterling. The story centers on a Black Republican candidate on the national stage who finds his campaign threatened by an activist who challenges everything he claims to stand for. Their battle exposes uncomfortable truths about race, politics, and the stories we tell ourselves.
