POMPEII!! Playwrights
Cameron Cobb: Cameron is a writer, director, actor, and songwriter from Dallas, TX. He received his BFA with an emphasis in Theatrical and Critical Studies from Southern Methodist University in 1998, where he received the Rosenfeld Award from Playwriting for his play DIDYMUS, which had its professional premier one year later with Our Endeavors Theater. In 2000, his movement-based short play talc was presented in separate productions as part of the Millennium Festival at the Kennedy Center as well as part of the America's Living Room Festival at HERE in NYC, in conjunction with Lincoln Center. Along with his POMPEII!! collaborator Michael Federico, he wrote BEN FRANKLIN: A METAL OPERA, which won "Crowd Favorite" at Austin's FronteraFest in 2007, leading to the development of the 2009 world premiere of their full-length rock opera re-telling of the Arthurian legend, ARTHURIOSIS, which enjoyed a sold-out Austin run. The world premiere of POMPEII!! at KDT kicked all the a**es and took all the names, including receiving the inaugural Dramatists' Guild New Work Fellowship. He has since turned his focus to the screen, including his original screenplay LIFE LIKE THIS, written with Michael Federico, to feature KDT's own Tina Parker. Cameron spent last summer writing a season of television about small-town Texas women who solve a crime with two of his closest friends for The Wonder. Thank you for supporting live theater.
Michael Federico: Michael Federico is an award-winning playwright, screenwriter, and recipient of the National Endowment of the Arts New Works Grant and the Dramatist Guild of America’s New Works Grant. His plays have been seen in New York, Chicago, Dallas, Austin, and San Diego. He also wrote the theater camp slasher-comedy movie, The Finale (High Octane Media), which was directed by KDT Company Member Christie Vela and Produced by POMPEii!!, co-writer Max Hartman. It’s streaming everywhere, and you should totally watch it. Recently, Michael served as the Head of Writing for Ballen Studios, where he wrote multiple podcasts, including MrBallen: Strange, Dark, and Mysterious, which was consistently the #1 Podcast on Amazon Music. He currently has a 10-episode television development deal with Wonder for a series he created with Cameron Cobb and fellow SMU grad Amy Acker.
Max Hartman: Max Hartman has been a proud member of Kitchen Dog Theater’s Company of Artists since 1999. Ever grateful for this artistic home base, his work has earned Best Of accolades from the Dallas Theater Critics Forum, D Magazine, The Dallas Observer, The Dallas Morning News and others. Stretched and challenged in ways only live theater can provide, Max has played a diverse array of characters but is likely accused of specializing in playing loveable arrogant jerks with no typecasting/self-awareness. Favorite past productions include POMPEii!!, which he co-composed musically, LOVE AND VINYL, A LOVE OFFERING, IRONBOUND, THE ARSONISTS, TREVOR, RACE, BARBECUE APOCALYPSE, WILDE EARNEST, BECKY SHAW, THE VIBRATOR PLAY and BETRAYAL, to name a few. Active voicing anime characters with Crunchyroll, Max is also a singer songwriter/multi-instrumentalist and performs locally with several bands and as his alter ego, crooner extraordinaire Max Vontaine.
