General SCRIPT Submission Policy
Kitchen Dog loves new plays but, due to the size of our staff, we cannot accept unsolicited scripts from playwrights living outside of Dallas-Fort Worth. Please consider submitting to our annual New Works Festival opportunity.
Local script submission policy
We believe in our local playwright community and welcome potential new collaborators who share our interests and aesthetic. In addition to our annual New Works Festival Local Slot, playwrights currently living in the Dallas-Fort Worth area may submit unsolicited script samples. Playwrights interested in submitting should first review our mission statement, research our production history, and/or see a Kitchen Dog Theater production. Submissions should be sent via email with the subject line: KDT LOCAL SCRIPT SAMPLE. Your submission should include:
a letter of inquiry addressing the script’s production and development history and how it aligns with our mission statement (in body of email or as a PDF)
a synopsis (no more than one page, attached as a PDF)
a script sample of no more than 10 pages. (attached as a PDF)
your contact information in both the body of your email and on your attached script sample.
Eligible submission materials should be sent to Kitchen Dog’s Manager of Literary and Community Initiatives/NNPN Producer-in-Residence Haley Nelson at firstname.lastname@example.org. We will confirm we have received your submission, and reach out to you again if we would like a perusal copy of the full script. We are unable to provide feedback for submitted scripts at this time.
